Assistant Professor of Engineering

Alp M. Sunol

Alp is a chemical engineer by training, earning his B.S. from Caltech and his Ph.D. from Stanford University. During his doctoral research, he developed theoretical and computational models of confined suspensions and intracellular transport. Before joining Brown, he was a postdoctoral research fellow in applied mathematics at Harvard University, where he developed methods for learning constitutive laws and microscopic interactions from data and for enabling closed-loop control.

Outside of research, Alp enjoys soccer, weightlifting, history, playing the flute, and spending time with family and friends.
