Our group is growing and welcomes inquiries from prospective members at all career stages. We aim to build a collaborative, inclusive, and interdisciplinary group that pursues bold research ideas while supporting each member’s growth and well-being. We especially encourage current Brown students in engineering, applied mathematics, chemistry, biophysics, and physics to reach out.

Ph.D. students

Students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. at Brown and joining our group should apply to Chemical and Environmental Engineering or another relevant graduate program.

We would be glad to hear from current and admitted Brown Ph.D. students who are excited by the group’s research, as well as prospective applicants with questions about our group. Given our interdisciplinary interests, we are also happy to explore collaborative projects or, where appropriate, co-advising across Brown.

Please reach out with a description of your interests and any research experience.

Postdoctoral researchers

We welcome inquiries from postdoctoral researchers who are excited about the group’s work and bring expertise in areas such as soft matter, fluid mechanics, statistical physics, applied mathematics, scientific computing, machine learning, or quantitative biology. Postdoctoral researchers will have opportunities to develop theoretical, computational, and data-driven methods, work closely with experimental collaborators, and pursue both fundamental and applied questions.

Please reach out with a CV, a description of your past research, and the directions you would be interested in pursuing. Candidates interested in Brown Engineering’s Hope Street or Hibbitt Fellowships, or other Brown or external fellowship programs, are encouraged to contact us early. We would be glad to discuss potential projects and support the development of an application.

Undergraduate and master’s students

We are excited to work with current Brown undergraduate and master’s students to shape projects around their interests, backgrounds, and levels of experience, both during the academic year and over the summer. We are open to projects of different lengths and hope that some will grow into sustained collaborations, including independent study or a thesis. Brown undergraduates can also explore the University’s undergraduate research funding opportunities.

If you are interested in the group’s research, please reach out with your program and year, the topics or questions that interest you most, what you hope to learn or pursue through the project, any research or technical experience, and how much time you would like to commit. From there, we can discuss what kind of project would be a good fit.
